This position assists with technical plan review, field surveying, construction inspection, project design and project management functions.
Examples of Duties
• Conducts development/site inspections to ensure compliance with city regulations.
• Monitors the work of contractors engaged in city projects to ensure compliance with project specifications and city standards.
• Performs plan, specification and design review.
• Conducts or assists in conducting topographic, construction, traffic and inventory surveys.
• Assists in the development and review of plans and specifications for city related projects.
• Uses computer hardware and software to create comprehensive documents, create and input spreadsheets, prepare databases, and file electronic documents.
• Assists with the review of site plans or construction plans for compliance with city regulations
• Assists with engineering bid proposals.
• Investigates citizen complaints.
• Assists the public and consulting engineers in understanding and complying with applicable federal, state and local regulations.
• Provides technical support for the work of other city departments.
• Provides computer aided drafting and operates GIS system as needed.
• Performs related duties.
Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with the completion of a high school diploma or GED.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of:
o An apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for four years or
o A certification or an associate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field and two years of related experience.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
